Some of Year 6 had the opportunity to visit the author, Joseph Elliott, at King Edwards School, Edgbaston.

Rawan said she absolutely loved meeting him and thought, ‘He was so smiley, kind and funny.’ He told us all about starring in CBBC’s ‘Swashbuckle’ (Maryam’s favourite programme!) and how his writing career started.

He read some of his new book, ‘Nora and the Map of Mayhem’, as well as telling us about the main character who has an ‘Infinity Bag’ that holds everything (Mustafa liked this bit a lot). Aizah and Serine were invited on stage to take a dip inside this bag – they loved it! Aleeza’s favourite part was playing ‘Snot Game’ where we took guesses to reveal the character underneath.

He signed some of our books and gave us a poster for the library. Yahya really liked that he wrote ‘Never stop reading’. Qasim was very grateful for the opportunity to meet the author.

He was such a nice person to meet and have photos with. We can’t wait to read his books!

“I enjoyed when he read a little part of the new book because he used good expression. It was brilliant!” – Sumaya B
