On November 22nd, all Year 5 performed on stage at the Rep theatre!
All term, since September, each year 5 class has been working on a drama performance every week with a specialist drama coach, Summer. They have worked so hard and developed so much confidence week on week.
When we arrived, we had a technical rehearsal and we saw how all the class performances fitted together to follow a wintery journey to find a snowman who came to life!
When the lights went out, it was so dark but then they were all colourful as they lit up the stage. Another school came into be the audience as well as some special guests. We were all so nervous in front of a real audience but we performed confidently.
After the performance, there was a special ceremony that celebrated the life of Joyce Farley who was born in Small Heath. When she died, she left a lot of her money to support the children of the neighbourhood where she was raised. She hoped it would enhance their education of performing arts.
Thank you to the Joyce Farley Trust for ensuring we had this once-in a lifetime opportunity! We will never forget it.
